Hungarian Miss Universe contestant walked the runway in cheap dress
Just a few days ago, on 13 December, the 70th annual Miss Universe took place in Eilat, Israel. Every contestant was eager to share their national costumes – one exception was Viktória Jázmin, Hungary’s contestant.
The Miss Universe beauty pageant has several stages. At one point, the contestants have to present their national costumes on stage. As 444 reported, when it was Hungary’s turn this year,
Viktória Jázmin walked out from backstage in a HUF 9995 Zara dress, holding a huge Hungarian flag.
Instead of a costume with, for example, traditional Hungarian Matyó embroidery on it, she had to wear a dress that anyone could buy and wear anytime. While the dress is absolutely not unique to Hungary, with the tricolour flag, she made it clear what country she represents.
However, Viktória’s costume has come under fire from critics. According to some people,
the Hungarian national dress is so beautiful that it should not have been left out of the competition.
Others said that they should not have given Viktória such a plain dress.
Szandra Proksa, the Hungarian contestant of Miss Universe 2015, believes that people should refrain from blaming Viktória. As she says, the contestants are just “puppets” who are dressed up. They do not have a say in which costume to wear. It is all in the hands of the organisers.
Here are two of the most impressive national costumes just for comparison: Puerto Rico and Peru, respectively.
Even though Viktória’s dress was not a success, it is already out of stock in Zara.
Seems like many of us would love to be beauty queens, even if just for a short time.
Harnaaz Sandhu, India’s representative, was crowned Miss Universe 2021 – her predecessor, Andrea Meza of Mexico, gave her the crown.

Just like them cheap night girls at Gozsdu
She looks like she’s wearing the dress wrong and has both straps on one side? Or is it just me and I’m out of touch with fashion these days…….
It’s not the dress that counts but the country she is representative of.She is a true intelligent person for showing that to the world,,,,
Well done. This young women represented all the Hungarian young women. No one dresses in Matyo or other Hungarian costumes on daily bases. Some costumes worn by some contestants actually looked ridicules. So once again, good job!!!!
